Peter Lloyd / Carl Sorensen Winners K&R Mitsubishi Stages Rally 2012
Peter Lloyd/Carl Sorensen Subaru Impreza are the overall victors of the 16th running of the rally at Brean Leisure Park . An event that Peter is now dominating with his record 6th win here and his 4th in a row. This year driving the S14 Subaru Impreza world rally car, the crew went into the overnight halt on Saturday leading by a substantial 49 seconds after the days 6 stages over event sponsor and multiple Brean winner Karl Broad / Roger Grant in their Impreza WRC.
Any thoughts that Peter Lloyd would back his foot of the gas on Sunday's stages were soon dispelled as he quickly opened the gap at the top even further clearly enjoying his maximum attack to eventually take his impressive 4th straight win by 2 minutes and 6 seconds. Karl Broad taking second place and the pairing of Theo Bengry/ Les Forsbrook an impressive 3rd overall in their Ford Focus WRC on their first visit to Brean. Local Father and daughter pairing of Michael & Molly Threlfall were thrilled to bring their Mitsubishi evo home in 4th place, this being young 16 year old Molly's first compeitive event in the navigators seat.
Annual top runners and former Brean victors themselves Steve & Yvonne Furzeland had an unusually unlucky weekend suffering all sorts of mechanical challenges in their Subaru Impreza S12 WRC which eventually expired with a small but spectacular oil fire from the gearbox no less!
This years unusually mild weather conditions contributed to attract a record number of spectators to this popular annual icon of club motorsport. The many thousands attending enjoying the extended and enhanced viewing facilities over the weekend.
The organisers wish to whole heartedly thank all competitors, marshals, sponsors, officials and spectators for contributing to make this one of the best and enjoyable Brean rallies yet. We hope to see you all back here again in 2013.
